Brian Whelan B.E., M.Eng. Sc.
Founder & Managing Director
Brian has degrees in Mechanical and Structural Engineering and over 25 years experience in the construction industry.
Brian’s expertise in suspended scaffolding is well recognised throughout the industry. He is a member of the Australian Standards working group for Suspended Scaffolding and a regular contributor to the Construction Safety & Education Forum.
Brian is the designer of the patented Load Block overload limiter which is used exclusively by Active Platforms on all Swinging Stage installations.
Owen McGuigan B.A. B.A.I. (Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering)
Senior Design Engineer
Owen is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin with over 4 years experience in the construction industry.
Since joining Active Platforms in 2009, Owen has engineered and certified many large suspended scaffolding and specialised access solutions, as well as propping, falsework, bridging and various other applications of the Layher modular scaffolding system. Owen is highly qualified and experienced with the Layher Allround system having trained with the Layher Engineering team in Germany.
Owen will work with your project team to identify risk & opportunity at design stage, to design innovative, multi-function work platforms and access solutions to maximise efficiency and eliminate risk.
Owen provides engineering direction and support to the installation teams and conducts in-progress inspections and engineering certification of installations.
